Once AltStore has configured your account for you, AltStore then “resigns” (or as I call it in AltStore, “refreshes”) the application with your Apple ID to ensure all normal iOS security checks pass and treat the app as if it’s an app you’ve built yourself. it’s never sent to any 3rd party server, only sent directly to Apple for authentication, and then stored securely in the device’s keychain so nothing else can retrieve it), but since it doesn’t matter what Apple ID is provided, you are more than welcome to create throwaway accounts if desired. I’ve done everything I can to ensure these credentials are handled properly (i.e. Similarly, since there’s no single enterprise certificate to revoke (because technically every user now has their own developer certificate using this process), Apple can’t simply shut it down with the press of a button like they have with some 3rd party app stores (until they receive a new certificate in a week or so, of course).įor this distribution method, AltStore requires your Apple ID and password to communicate on your behalf with Apple’s developer servers. Since this is an actually supported installation method by Apple, it’s far less fragile than other distribution methods in the past (such as our old friend the Date Trick to install GBA4iOS □). This is intended for people who might otherwise be unable to purchase a $99/yr developer account themselves (such as students) - but as it turns out there’s no technical reason why it’s limited to just apps installed from Xcode.ĪltStore is a fully native, sandboxed iOS application that allows you to sideload apps by essentially “tricking” your phone into thinking it’s installing apps that you made yourself, when really they can be any apps whatsoever. Instead, it relies on a lesser known developer feature that allows you to use your Apple ID to install apps you’ve developed yourself with Xcode, Apple’s development toolkit. Unlike other unofficial app stores today, AltStore does not rely on enterprise certificates, which Apple has been cracking down on more and more recently. So, what is AltStore? AltStore is an alternative app store for non-jailbroken devices. In order to make sure I didn’t shoot myself in the foot by revealing too much, however, I didn’t allow myself to talk about anything other than Delta during the whole process □ But now, finally, it’s time to reveal the other big project I’ve been working on: AltStore. Everything in this blog post is something I’ve been working on in some form or another for the past several years.

Especially the ones that cost more than gold. While it’s true that there’s no such thing as ‘too much storage’, there’s definitely a case for sacking off overcomplicated storage systems that make hard work out of stashing your essentials. ‘Try starting with using the color as a feature wall in the kitchen, or even inside the cabinets, to see if it is something you could embrace long-term on the main cabinetry.’ 7. If you are hellbent on following a current paint trend, Richard Moore recommends baby steps. Some of the latest COTYs are absolutely liveable – for example, Glidden’s 2024 COTY, Limitless – but others are clearly more about making headlines, and will most likely only result in headaches when you eventually admit defeat and repaint your cabinets. ‘Think carefully about the color scheme of the rest of your home, and whether the proposed color fits your style.’ ‘Colors are a key aspect of choosing new kitchen cabinets it is about finding a color that you can live with daily, but not get bored of in the near future,’ says Richard Moore, design director, Martin Moore. Keeping up with the latest Color of the Year forecasts is all cool when you’re buying a new sweater, but on kitchen cabinets, it rarely pays to take your color lead from the fashion catwalks. ‘Sticking to just two shelves provides sufficient space to display a sculpture and pottery piece and show off more of the gorgeous Calacatta marble backsplash.’ 6. ‘We left space on either side of the range hood for shelves, to help break up the dark cabinetry and keep things feeling light but it’s those floor-to-ceiling cabinets that make this kitchen sleek, modern, and, above all, functional,’ she recalls. Cortney Bishop Design nails the perfect shelf/cabinet combo in this striking kitchen, which still feels airy and open – but without excessive duster action required. ![]() With more ‘closed’ storage for less attractive essentials, shelving can be reserved for display purposes only. Leading the vanguard is the trend for countertop cabinets, which utilize that often-wasted gap between worktops and wall cabinets to provide maximum storage space for your buck. We’re not denying open shelving can look amazing, nor suggesting you should swerve it altogether, we’ve just noted that there’s a new (or is that old?) move to tread more cautiously and, in the process, enjoy a more practical kitchen. The dusting alone makes you wonder how the trend lasted longer than a week. If you ever fell for the open shelving hype and swapped all your wall cabinets for endless stretches of shelving you probably won’t be sorry to hear that the downsides of open shelving are pushing the #shelfie craze into style Siberia. For too long open shelving has been 'in', and wall cabinets are most definitely 'out'. Open shelving is possibly one of the longest-running kitchen cabinet trends of all time. ![]() (Image credit: Cortney Bishop Design/Katie Charlotte) It feels less harsh than regular grey and works well in both contemporary or more period interiors as it is so easy to combine with rich dark reds and greens or more muted pinks and browns,’ explains Helen. ‘A soft, minky brown-grey is a wonderfully chic color to pick for kitchen cupboards. So, now that white and gray are officially out of style, where can you get your neutral fix? deVOL’s creative director Helen Parker looks to Greige – which is a mix of brown/beige and gray – as a much more soulful choice that feels more in tune with current fashions. Battleship grays are the worst offenders but, to be honest, we’re so over any shade of gray with cold blue undertones. The issue is that, unless you really know what you’re doing, all-gray cabinets are just so cold and uninviting, especially if your kitchen is North-facing. Nobody is denying that gray is a flexible, timeless choice for kitchen cabinets. It wasn’t so many years ago that gray was enthusiastically embraced as the ‘new neutral’, a more sophisticated alternative to white or magnolia. ![]() 12/24/2023 0 Comments Sweet pie blackberry![]() ![]() Just before the chilling time is finished, start preheating your oven to 400✯ and place an oven rack on the lower third of the oven with a baking sheet set onto it. So, despite the expected load being 15 amps, we are using our 30 amp rated wire. Despite this, we used 10 gauge wire as the wire will be in a much hotter-than-typical environment and it will also have a constant current running for hours every day, nearly every day. ![]() For the solar array we installed on our roof, the inverters will be outputting a max of 15 amps but we have them connected to 20 amp breakers at the combiner box. This is a good point to mention that while 10 gauge is rated at an ampacity of 30 amps, larger wire can be called for depending on the circumstances. For the 10 gauge wire, it is rated at an ampacity of 30 amps.10/2 wire is a little bigger and is usually used for dedicated appliances like an AC condenser, water heater, or dryer, though you often see 10/3 wire in these applications for the 240 volts needed. In our home, we have three light circuits but could easily have put all the lights in the house on one 15 amp circuit without any concerns of tripping the breaker.Īfter 14/2 and 12/2, 10/2 is the next common size. On the other hand, 15 amps for lighting in today’s world of high-efficiency LEDs is sufficient for large portions of homes. It doesn’t provide the overhead capacity of a 20 amp circuit, though, so you’re more likely to pop a breaker with the inrush current of a heavy load. 14 gauge wire is very commonly used for 15 amp outlet circuits as well, though, as it’s cheaper and easier to work with. Meaning, you can connect a 12 gauge wire to a 15 amp circuit breaker but you cannot have any 14 gauge wire in a 20 amp circuit.ġ2 gauge (20 amp wire) is used more frequently for electrical outlets while 14 gauge (15 amp) wire is used more frequently for lights. In this case, you must have a breaker that is rated for the ampacity of the wire OR LOWER. It is important to remember that the smaller the gauge, the bigger the wire. ![]() For the 12 gauge wire, it is rated at an ampacity of 20 amps. For the 14 gauge wire, it is rated at an ampacity of 15 amps.Despite the similarities in how the conductors are wrapped, there is a definite difference in the size of the copper. Now that we know what is going in within the wire, let’s refocus on the gauge of the different wires. This third conductor can be used for many different purposes - most commonly for communication between smoke detectors, three way switches, or as an out-of-phase conductor to provide 240V. Often a 14-3 wire will be used which means three conductors (black for hot, white for neutral, and red varies depending on application) will be in the sheathing along with the bare copper ground wire. However, in this case, we only consider the two insulated interior wires to be conductors, and the third wire is a ground wire - there only for safety purposes. This can be a point of confusion, however, as we can clearly see there are THREE wires in there, not two. These wires are called 14-2 and 12-2 gauge NM wire, the first portion of their name indicating the gauge of the wire and the second portion indicating how many separate conductors there are. You’ll also notice that in both of these, there are three wires - two of them are insulated with black and white insulation as well as a bare copper wire. The external plastic sheathing is helpful when pulling the wire so that it doesn’t catch and damage the insulation on the conductors. It is surrounded by paper and a plastic sheathing that protects the individually insulated conductors inside the wire. Romex is a brand name, it's actually an NM or non-metallic wire. ![]() ![]() ![]() The NTSB did not return a call Friday to its Washington, D.C.
